The “Friends of St Peter’s Church, Ropley” is a registered charity (# 285131) formed in 1982. Its charitable objectives are defined as:

  • The preservation, repair, restoration, improvement and ornamentation of the fabric of St. Peter’s church and to provide articles for use in worship there.
  • To assist the vicar and churchwardens in the upkeep and improvement of the church coffee room.
  • The maintenance, repair and upkeep of the churchyard and graveyard (and any extension thereof), its boundaries and accesses; the lopping, felling and planting of trees in the churchyard; the provision of lighting (including floodlighting) and the necessary cabling thereof.

The Friends has played an important part in maintaining worship at St Peter’s and will now play a major role in fundraising for any insurance shortfall in the cost of restoring the church to its historic and rightful place at the centre of our community.

The legal responsibility for the building remains with St Peter’s PCC (Parochial Church Council).
